Honestly, the tbone project started some months ago, but we never found the time to set up a project website.

We started with an idea of another conception of control electronics for desktop prototyping and manufacturing. While most designs rely on receiving well timed waypoints or steps from a host computer and calculate the steps on an embedded MCU, we beleive, that the realtime stuff like step and ramp calculation should be done in hardware and selected a dedicated motion control IC first. To make it independent from a host PC, we have chosen the powerful and yet cheap embedded computer Beagle Bone as a platform to run the high level software on + an arduino-compatible embedded microcontroller  on board to do the low level calculations.

We believe, that this design will be and has to be fuly open source hardware and software.
